Despite being the most expensive configuration of the Golf model, with a price tag of $81,582 in U.S. dollars, all 333 units of this exclusive Golf R were snatched up within a mere eight minutes, solely destined for the German market.

However, it's important to note that "selling out" in the world of car dealerships is still contingent on the actual exchange of cold hard cash (or its equivalent). Plus, let's not discount the allure of dealer markups. The car is scheduled to go on sale in October.

Recently, VW's head of product communications, Stefan Voswinkel, took to LinkedIn to announce the rapid sellout of the Golf R 333. He remarked, "Okay, that was fast — even for a Golf R. The special model Golf R 333 was sold out after eight minutes." While he didn't explicitly mention if VW's press team deserved credit, it was probably implied. So far, the car has only made appearances in press previews, photos, and flattering stories on various websites.

Naturally, some skeptical sports car enthusiasts might argue that the amount spent on the Golf R 333 could also acquire a Porsche 718 Cayman S, or even leave a significant amount of change when opting for an Audi RS3. However, there's something undeniably appealing about the number "333."

In any case, this special hot hatch, serving as a successor to the 2022 Golf R 20 Years Edition, boasts a turbocharged engine producing 328 horsepower (245 kilowatts) and 309 pound-feet (420 Newton-meters) of torque. It's a modified version of VW's reliable 2.0 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine. Other specifications indicate a 0-to-62-mph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of nearly 170 mph.
